How to find an IRS job

So you want to work for the IRS? Maybe you just saw the commercial "Got a job, just call the IRS." Whatever the case, working for the IRS can be a good career. This guide will help you to find a job working for the Internal Revenue Service.

Instructions

1. First start off by going to the website for government employment www.usajobs.gov

2. Set up a user account with USAJOBS. They will guide you through the process. Fill out all the requested information and create a resume.

3. Once you have an account set up, locate the search menu. From here type in "IRS" and your location. This should pull up a list of available IRS jobs.

4. You can click the individual jobs for more details. There should be a tab that says "How to apply." If you click this it will give you the details on what you need to do, such as how to submit your application and resume.

5. After this, the IRS will most likely send you an email if you qualify and begin the interview process. Depending on the position, the process can take a long time (months even). For example seasonal data transcribers sometimes submit their resume in September, have their first interview in November, full time service doesn't start till April and the season ends by June.
