How to Find Out If You Live Near a Sexual Offender or Sexual Predator
If you are buying a house or renting a house or an apartment, check out the neighborhood and who lives there. While you cannot check and interview every single neighbor, you can find out if there are sexual offenders or sexual predators living near your home. Check the Dru Sjodin National Sex Offender Public Website. Though it was established in 2005, the website was renamed by the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act of 2006 in honor of 22-year-old college student Dru Sjodin of Grand Forks, N.D., a young woman who was kidnapped and murdered by a sex offender who crossed state lines to commit his crime, according to the website.
