Step 1
Step One: To purchase high heels, you need to know what size heel that you are comfortable with. The more dressier the occasion as a general rule, the higher the heel. The color of the shoe can make up for the lower heel if comfort is what you are after. If you are dressing for a job interview the lower heel is preferable as comfort will put you in a better position to meet new employers. The 3 ½ inch and the 4 inch heel is mostly for evening wear and for a night out on the town. After you have decided on the length of heel that you would like to purchase then it is time to head to the shoe store to purchase a pair of high heels.

Step 2
Step Two: Select a shoe store that has as its specialty shoes. The salesperson will be happy to assist you in selecting a pair of high heels. Let her know the color of the outfit that you would like to wear to the special event. You can not go wrong with a basic black pump that is compatible with most colors except for the pastels. Although fashion designers are saying that it is alright to wear white shoes Labor Day, do not abide by that rule. The general public still will look at you like you are wearing white shoes in the wrong season, so do not wear white shoes except for outfits worn in spring or summer.

Step 3
Step Three: Once you and the sales person decide on a pair of shoes, try both shoes on and do not be in a hurry to leave the store. Make sure that the shoe fits by walking around the store ascertaining that your toes are not crunched up in a pair of pointed stilettos. Pointed shoes makes the feet look longer and can be uncomfortable. To break the shoes in, ask the salesperson if you can wear the shoes out of the store if the shoes are not too dressy.
