Things You'll Need:
- Website/blog
- a means of capturing email addresses through opt-in.
- email service provider
-
Step 1
Before laying out any money for an email service provider you should first define what your "email marketing campaign" is going to be. By this I mean what systematic approach are you going to take.
One of the most popular types of email marketing campaigns is to create an email course that relates to your website or product. For example create a seven part "how to" course and deliver each part once a day for a full week.
In the course you create you need to provide useful information. Then casually make a recommendation of a product that fits the subject matter. Don't just start bombarding your prospect with a bunch of sales pitch or else they're going to unsubscribe, never to come back!
You'll gradually build a rapport with the folks you're emailing and they'll be more apt to buy something from you. -
Step 2
Once you have your course material created you'll need a way to deliver it. I highly recommend using a paid service. There are free services out there, but to get all the tools that you'll need to be successful and look like a professional a paid service is the way to go.
See the resource box at the bottom for one of the best services available for the price. -
Step 3
No SPAMThe email service provider can provide you with the email form code that you'll need to install on your website. Its not that difficult to install the code.
This code will display an email form on your website for your visitors to type in their email addresses.
When the visitor's email address is entered, your email provider will send them a notification asking them to validate. This is known as "opt-in" or permission email. The email service provider will also give the visitor a way to cancel or "opt-out" if they choose to do so.
By using a professional email service provider this will help you be in compliance of the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003. Also best to cover your backside.
Never SPAM email anyone! -
Step 4
Once you have your email service provider you'll need to start setting up your campaign. A good email service will have the necessary tools, such as templates, auto responder, and instructions to do this.
Basically you'll take each section of the course that you developed and create the necessary form and time frame in which it is to be delivered. You may want each section delivered once a day, once week, etc. -
Step 5
When you have everything setup then you should test it. One way is to subscribe to your own email list. Then you can check that the emails are being delivered on time and how the formatting looks.
-
Step 6
There are many different ways to utilize email marketing to increase your online profits. Its just a matter of taking your time and doing a little research before you jump in with both feet.
