How to Select the Appropriate Shower Curtain Rod
The best shower curtain rod for your bathroom depends on several factors. The wall or ceiling surface, the size and shape of the shower, the type of curtain you're planning to hang and the desire for extra towel-hanging space all play a role as you choose your curtain rod. Once you've weighed these factors, choose a shower rod with the same finish as the rest of your bathroom fixtures, or in a complementary finish. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Examine the area where the shower curtain rod will be hanging. If you have tile or another solid surface, it's easier not to drill into the surface. Choose a spring-loaded rod that is held between the walls with tension and doesn't require screw holes. If you have drywall above the shower or tub surround, you can choose a tension rod or a rod that mounts securely with screws into drywall anchors or studs.

2
Consider specialty rods for an L-shaped shower stall or a clawfoot tub with a handheld shower.

3
Opt for a double rod if you are hanging a shower curtain with decorative layers, such as a liner for inside the tub or shower, a decorative curtain for the outside and swags over the top. If you want a floor-to-ceiling shower curtain, choose a wall-mount rod or one with ceiling mounts.

Choose a shower-curtain rod that meets your space needs. A rod that curves outward gives you extra elbow room in the shower, while keeping the water where it belongs. A double rod with a single curtain hanging on the inside bar can provide extra towel-hanging space on the outer bar.

Tips & Warnings
Measure the length of your shower curtain, decide how far you want it off the floor, then mount the curtain rod at the appropriate height.
Make sure your ceiling surface has enough strength to hold the rod and the curtain.
