Getting Started
In getting started it is important to educate yourself on the job description and other important information regarding HVAC as a career. This is just to ensure that this career is in fact for you. Do this by conducting an online search for things such as HVAC job description, salary information, and feedback from established HVAC technicians.

HVAC School
Next you will need to enroll in an accredited HVAC school. You can do this either online, through a community college, or a trade school. Whichever avenue you choose just make sure that the school is accredited. Enrolling in an unaccredited HVAC school will not earn you your certification.

HVAC Apprenticeship
Upon completing your HVAC classes you will need to complete an apprenticeship with a certified HVAC technician. Many trade schools and community colleges offer services that set up an apprenticeship for you. You apprenticeship will last 6 month - 2 years. The required length of your HVAC apprenticeship is dependent upon your particular states requirements.

The HVAC Exam
Once you have completed your required length apprenticeship, you will need to pass the HVAC exam. Go online to find an HVAC exam testing center near you. Upon passing the exam will then be qualified to work as an HVAC technician. All that is left to do now is to find a job and start working.
Note: Ask the HVAC school you attended if they offer any kind of job placement programs.
