Donating your furniture is a great way to get rid of unwanted furniture as well as help a good cause. Donating furniture also offers incentives such as tax write offs and credits.

    The Salvation Army

    Refer to your Yellow Pages phone book or look online for a Salvation donation center near you. The Salvation army accepts furniture, appliances, household goods, etc. After you donate to the Salvation Army your items are then sold in their store and the money is then given to charity. Many salvation army locations offer free pick up of your furniture. Give the location near you a call to see if they are offer free pick up.

  2. Step 2

    Donation Services

    Utilize one of the many donation services offered in your area. Many such places include churches, schools, and thrift stores. Once you settle on a donation service, schedule a pickup or drop off your furniture at the specified location.

  3. Step 3

    Donating Online

    Go online and log on to a classifieds website such as Craigslist.com. Conduct a search for charity services offered in your area. You will be surprises at how many charitable organizations there are in your area. Alternatively, consider posting a ad in your newspaper or online classifieds website offering free furniture. You will most likely receive dozens of calls from people who are interested in your furniture.

  4. Step 4

    Donating at Your Home

    A simple way to donate your furniture is to simply place the item(s) in from of your home and place a free sign on them. Furniture that is in good condition will usually get picked up fast. Be sure that you don't leave the furniture outside too long, as this may bug your neighbors or cause the furniture to become dirty.
