Slough away dead skin cells with a baking soda scrub. Baking soda has small particles that will help to exfoliate the skin without damaging the skin's surface layers. It will also kill off acne-causing bacteria while lifting off skin discolorations, which helps the skin to remain clear while acne scarring is removed. Baking soda can be applied to the skin once per day to exfoliate dead skin cells. Pour 1-2 tablespoons of baking soda into the palm of your hand, then drizzle a little water onto the baking soda until a paste is formed. Gently massage the paste around the skin for 30 seconds, then rinse the area well with water.

Lighten and improve new cell development with a lemon juice toner. Lemon juice is highly acidic and helps encourage the skin to produce new skin cells. When new skin cells are created quickly, the skin will become more even. Lemon juice will also lighten the skin, helping lighten areas of discoloration while they are waiting to be sloughed away. Pour concentrated lemon juice onto a washcloth, then apply the lemon juice to the skin after it has been cleansed or exfoliated. Let the lemon juice remain on the skin until it dries naturally. Reapply the lemon juice up to three times per day.

Soften and smooth the skin with a vitamin E oil skin massage. Using vitamin E oil on acne scarring will hydrate the area and loosen dead skin cells. When the oil is massaged into the skin daily, acne scarring will be reduced and eliminated faster. To apply vitamin E oil to the skin, dip the fingers into the oil and then massage the areas of discoloration using small, circular motions. Continue to massage the area for at least 5 minutes, wiping away the excess oil afterward with a clean, dry cloth.
