How to Put Pictures on Windows WordPad

Windows WordPad is a relatively simple word processor. The program is usually the default word processor on new PCs, unless Microsoft Word is installed. While WordPad is solid for basic word processing, it becomes difficult when you are trying to add pictures or other objects. The processor will not recognize traditional JPEG images, so you must make a few changes.

Instructions

    • 1

Right-click the picture of your choice and choose "Open with". Choose "Paint" to open the photo in Microsoft Paint.

    • 2

Click "Edit" and choose "Select All", and then choose "Copy". You will have to open most photos in Paint before pasting them into a WordPad document.

    • 3

Open your WordPad document and select the area you want to add the photo. Right-click the spot and choose "Paste". Your picture will now be posted in the document.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can also use an alternative method to put pictures in WordPad. Open your picture with MS Paint and save the picture as a bitmap image (.bmp). Open your WordPad program and choose "Insert", and then "Object". Select "Create from file" and browse for your bitmap image. Click "OK" when done. Your picture will be inserted into your WordPad document
