Instructions

    • 1

Run jar and lid through your dishwasher.

    • 2

Spray-paint the outside of the lid with a bright color. Let it dry and set it aside.

    • 3

Stick a round blob of florist clay (an inch across) to the inside bottom center of the jar.

    • 4

Cover the clay with dried sphagnum moss or other dried greenery.

    • 5

Create a tall mini floral arrangement with dried flowers. The height of the arrangement should leave a 2-inch space between the arrangement and the top of the jar, so you can see all the flowers. Also, don't cram flowers all the way to the sides of the jar. You want the arrangement to be a bit airy. The flowers should cascade down, with smaller flowers at the bottom. Incorporate ornaments, such as bees, butterflies, ladybugs, birds, small pine cones or shells into the arrangement. You may need to hot-glue wire to them if they don't come wired.

    • 6

Wrap florist wire around the dried flower stems, close to the underside of the dried blooms. Wrap it several times and then twist the two ends of the wire, to hold it in place.

    • 7

Cut the dried flower stems, leaving 2 inches, straight across. The 2 inches will give you enough stem length to stick into the florist clay with any size jar.

    • 8

Use a needle-nose pliers to hold onto the flower arrangement, pushing it into the center of the moss covered clay.

    • 9

Place the lid on the jar. Cut a length of satin ribbon (length depending on the jar) and tie it around the jar top with a bow.
