Instructions

    • 1

Remove the old flange. If the flange was installed properly, it's not glued to the sub-floor but instead is glued on the inner wall of the toilet pipe. Use your drill and sanding bit to remove the bottom of the old flange from the pipe. The flange bottom runs 6 inches down into the pipe. Remove all the old material with the sanding bit.

    • 2

Sand out the hole using 150-grit sand paper. The key to this is ensuring that the pipe walls are free of any remaining plastic from the old flange.

    • 3

Remove any dirt, dust or particles from around the pipe. Simply sweep the debris aside with your hand.

    • 4

Put PVC cement around the outside of the bottom part of the new flange (the part that goes in the hole). Two dabs into the can of cement with the included brush should be enough.

    • 5

Put PVC cement around the inside of the pipe. Once again, two dabs into the can with the brush should be enough.

    • 6

Draw a straight line across the side slits on the flange using the permanent marker.

    • 7

Set the flange in the hole, and make sure that the line you had drawn across the side slits of the flange is parallel to the wall behind where the toilet sits.

Tips & Warnings

  • PVC cement comes with a brush in the can so you don't need any extra materials for spreading it.

  • It's vital to make sure the side slits are lined up for mounting the toilet and inserting hardware.
