Card cages keep wedding cards organized and easy to transport when it's time to clean up after your reception. Guests put their cards through the slits. Card cages can cost more than $40 at a party supply store and are usually rather small. But you can use an old birdcage and artificial birds to make your own pretty card cage. Find an old birdcage at a flea market, garage sale or thrift shop. Any color cage and artificial birds will work, or you can purchase little fake birds to match your wedding's color scheme. After your wedding, keep the cage as a decoration.

Instructions

    • 1

Clean out the bird cage. Take the top piece off and remove perches.

    • 2

Cut a piece of tulle to fit the bottom of the cage. Lay the tulle inside.

    • 3

Use the wire to attach the two fake birds to the middle of the perch.

    • 4

Cut a small piece of tulle to glue onto one bird's head as a veil. To make a hat for the other bird, cut a small circle out of the black construction paper, then a small rectangle and a second, smaller, circle. Roll the rectangle into a cylinder and glue the seam. Glue the larger circle to the bottom of the rectangle and the smaller circle to the top to make a hat. Glue the hat onto the other bird.

    • 5

Set the perch back in the cage.

    • 6

Cut two long pieces of tulle. Drape one piece over the back of the cage and one over the front.

    • 7

Cut the flowers, giving each a short stem. Use hot glue to attach the flowers to the perch and cage.
