How to Create a Personal Domain & Email Address
Having an online presence is now more important than ever for not only businesses, but also for individuals. Those seeking to promote themselves, perhaps because they are seeking work or a better job, need to have a personal domain so that prospective employers have a place to go online to find out more information about them. Luckily, creating a personal domain and email address is actually a very easy process.

1
Go to a domain registry website such as name.com, namecheap.com or any other one you've heard about.

2
Type in your first and last name together to see if it's available. If it isn't, add your middle initial to the name, but not your entire middle name.

3
Click "Register" and fill out all the necessary information.
-
4
Go to a web hosting site such as Hostgator.com, Yahoo.com or any other one you've heard about and sign up for web hosting with webmail functionality.

5
Copy down the Domain Name System (DNS) information for your hosting account by going to the Control Panel.
-
6
Go to your domain name's Control Panel and for the DNS field, switch it to the DNS addresses given by your web hosting service. Click "Submit" to confirm the changes.
-
7
Type in your domain name followed by /cpanel. So, for example, it would be yourname.com/cpanel. Type in your username and password. Scroll down and you'll see the "Email Accounts" icon. Click it.

8
Type in "admin" and then input your password and MB allowance (which is typically 250MB). Then click "Add Account." You've now created a personal domain and email address.

Tips & Warnings
Don't put in your full name as the domain name. While it's a good idea to have a first and last name, as well as the middle initial, typing in your full name including the middle name can open yourself up to identity thieves, among other threats.
