Wisconsin Chili or Chili Mac
Wisconsin Chili or Chili Mac

Wisconsin Chili is also known as Chili Soup or Chili Mac. Wisconsin chili does not melt a spoon, and is made with macaroni noodles. But it is a great meal, and can really stretch a dollar since it can easily make a large pot that is great for large families or multiple leftovers.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 Pounds Hamburger
  • 1 lb Elbow Marconi
  • 1 Large Can Vegetable Juice like V8
  • 1 large onion
  • 1 green pepper
  • 1 cup of diced celery
  • 2 cans Diced Tomato’s
  • 1-2 cans Kidney Beans
  • 1 small can tomato paste
  • Chili Powder
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Garlic Powder
  • Onion Powder
  • Cheyenne Pepper
  1. Step 1

In a large skillet brown hamburger meat. Drain off access fat and oils.

  2. Step 2

Fill a large kettle with water and a dash of salt bring to boil. Add 1 lb elbow macaroni cook till tender.
When pasta is tender drain water and rinse noodles in cold water. To prevent them from further cooking.

  3. Step 3

Light or dark kidney beans drained and rinsed. Kidney beans are optional. But I recommend them.

  4. Step 4

Clean and dice one large onion, dice celery, green pepper. Any of these vegetables are optional in case of allergy or simply do not have.

  5. Step 5

Place cooked hamburger in the kettle add vegetable juice, diced vegetables, drained kidney beans, 2 cans of diced tomato’s more if you like a lot. Mix in Chili powder, Salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder to taste. You can even add a dash of Cheyenne pepper or red pepper to spice it up. But be careful when adding spice to Wisconsin chili, the noodles will hold a lot of that heat., so I would not recommend adding a lot to the chili. But instead save the hot spice for the individual bowl. Bring mixture to boil.

  6. Step 6

Once mixture is boiling add one small can of tomato paste to thicken the broth. Add elbow macaroni and serve.

Tips & Warnings
  • Add a sprinkle of Cheddar or Colby cheese to make this Wisconsin chili go pop. Also try topping with a dollop of sour cream.
  • Don’t worry if you have made to much chili, just use a freezer container and store some of the leftovers in the freezer for a quick reheat meal at a later time.
