Use a Styptic Pencil to Stop Bleeding After Shaving

Nothing is worse than getting ready for a big evening only to notice that you've cut yourself a shave. You did it all right... hot water, good shaving cream, fresh new shaving razor, perhaps even a badger hair brush and it still went wrong. Here's an easy way to fix it. Read on to learn How to Use a Styptic Pencil to Stop Bleeding After Shaving

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

After you shave rinse all the shaving cream from your face and dry it completely.

  2. Step 2

Take out a styptic pencil. For those of you not familiar with a styptic pencil, it looks and feels exactly like one of those huge pieces of chalk that kids use to write on a sidewalk. You can buy one at any drug store for less than a few bucks.

  3. Step 3

Wet the tip of the styptic pencil lightly under the faucet. Don't saturate it. Minimal water will do.

  4. Step 4

Dab the styptic pencil tip (the wet part) directly onto the shaving razor cut.

  5. Step 5

It may sting a bit but only does so for less than a second. The bleeding should stop immediately. If not, apply again.

  6. Step 6

Note that this process is only for routine shaving razor cuts typical after a shave. Never apply to deep cuts or cuts other than small ones from your shave.

  7. Step 7

After the bleeding stops, rinse off pencil.

  8. Step 8

Keep checking yourself in the mirror. At some point some of the chalk from the styptic pencil will appear around the cut. Just dab your finger in some water and the dab off the chalk WITHOUT dabbing the cut (it'll bleed again if you do that)

  9. Step 9

This chalk may 'haze' up a couple more times around the cut. Just repeat the step above until it stops.

  10. Step 10

Then admire your fresh, clean, blood free, smooth face.
