Make Fairy Wings

With a pair of fairy wings, you can turn any nice dress into a costume. With these instructions you can throw together dragon fly style fairy wings.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 or 4 wire coat hangers
  • Pliers
  • Masking Tape
  • Tissue paper
  • Glue
  • Glitter
  • Ribbon
  • Rubber bands
  • Knee high nylons
  1. Step 1

Shape the loop part of the clothes hangers into long ovals with the hooks on the ends. For a small child's fairy costume you might want to use only two coat hangers. For a larger child or adult, you'll want to use four coat hangers.

  2. Step 2

Twist the hook portions of the hangers together, and twist the twisted wire back around the frame to hold the fairy wings together at the base.

  3. Step 3

Wrap tape over the wire ends to keep it from poking the future fairy.

  4. Step 4

Pull a knee high nylon stocking over each of the wire wing forms you made in the last step. Hold the stockings onto the wire fairy wing forms with a rubber band. Don't forget knee highs come in different colors.

  5. Step 5

Tie ribbon loops onto the wings so they can be worn like a backpack.

  6. Step 6

Wrap some wide ribbon or some nice paper over the base of the wings to hide the stocking tops.

  7. Step 7

Draw on the wings with glue.

  8. Step 8

    Sprinkle glitter over the glue.
