How to Properly Quit Smoking Cold-Turkey
Well, there's good news and there's bad news about quitting smoking cold turkey. The bad news is that it won't be easy, but the good news is that it will be easier than trying to get out of bed after a long night of partying, that's for sure. This process involves plenty of discipline and "will power", specially if you have very little support from the people around you. Having said that, let's move on to what needs to be done.

1
Clean Up Your Living Environment - First things first. You should throw whatever you have left if you have any cigarettes left. You should also get rid of any paraphernalia you might have associated to smoking, including ashtrays and lighters (as cute or cool as they might be). As you do this, think of the benefits you will get to enjoy from that moment on, such as plenty of saving annually, cleaner air, easy breathing, more energy, and even the return of the sense of smell. You will definitely save money and get healthier. This step applies to your home, as well as your car and any other personal places you spend time in.

2
Avoid the Common Mistakes - Some people will tell you to write reminders down about why it is your quitting. That's garbage. Don't write anything down. Commit these to memory instead. You should keep these reminders fresh in your memory. Others will tell you to carry candy, gum or even finger food with you wherever you go. Again, garbage. You want to quit smoking, not trade the habit for a chance at becoming obese. This is where you'll need to exercise that "will power" of yours. Don't be weak, period. What you should do is keep yourself busy with a non-detrimental activity. Go for a walk with a friend that doesn't smoke. Sip on some water with ice instead (chew on the ice). Well, you get the point.

Avoid Smoking Cessation Aids - This is about quitting cold turkey. Again, about discipline and "will power". Smoking Cessation Aids will only keep you exposed to the problem that much longer, not to mention they will eat away at your pocket as well. There's no need to spend time and money on these. What you need to do is focus. In addition, don't even think about switching to lighter smokes or alternatives like cloves. Those are dumb choices to make, which again, won't get you anywhere.

4
Mold a New Lifestyle for Yourself - The first couple of days won't be easy, so here's what you need to remember to do. Begin molding a new lifestyle for yourself. Find alternative activities to those which would otherwise expose you to smoking. That's basically it. Modify your routine as you see fit, and preserve your new surroundings.

5
Don't Turn Yourself Into a Prisoner - Remember, bad habits come from repeated actions which are detrimental to you and others (in this case, of course, the focus is on you). But you don't want to turn yourself into a prisoner over anything, including smoking. The lesson here is to enjoy life in moderation. If you're out with friends and some of them smoke and you feel like having one, that's perfectly fine. The key is to not let it become a three-pack-a-day habit. Treat it as you would a glass of wine (one or two, then that's it). Practice common sense and put your "will power" to good use!
