Make Homemade Tail and Mane Conditioner

Make grooming your horse easier than ever with this homemade mane and tail conditioner. Forget about the pricey preparations you buy in the tack shop, this homemade formula will last longer and won't put a dent in your wallet!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Human Conditioner (such as Suave)
  • Water
  • Spray Bottle
  • Vinegar (white or apple cider)
  1. Step 1

In a spray bottle, mix equal parts of the conditioner and water.

**Remembering to always label your spray bottles with the contents of whats inside. Such as "Leave In Conditioner" or "FLy Spray". This way all your lotions and potions won't get mixed up!

  2. Step 2

Add 2 tbs. vinegar to the conditioner/water mixture and shake vigorously until well blended. The vinegar will give the hair a nice shine !

  3. Step 3

Spray mixture onto mane and tail and let it sit for 5 minutes.
After it has set in, comb mane and tail with a wide tooth comb.
This is a leave in conditioner so there's no need to rinse it out!
It will repel dirt and dust and keep your horse's mane looking fabulous.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can also add to the mixture some baby oil or a few drops of peppermint oil to give it a nice scent !
  • I do not recommend using this mixture on the body, as it makes it a little slippery !
