Things You'll Need:
- 1. Heavy duty scissors 2. Pen or pencil 3. Vinyl flooring and glue spread 4. Five in One Tool 5. Mineral spirits (for cleaning) 6. Rags (for cleaning) 7. Scraping tool (for removing old vinyl) o

Step 1
Clean the floor, taking all the old vinyl off and scrape the floor as clean as possible removing any lumps and dust.
-
Step 2
Before putting the glue, measure the size of the floor adding about ½ inch to an inch, extra around the perimeter to push under base board and thresh hold strip. Cut the vinyl to that measurement with heavy duty scissors. Roll the vinyl (the ‘top’ inside) with the edge you want to start placing around your floor in hand
-
Step 3
Using the 1/8th teethed trowel spread the glue on the floor from the wall in no more than two foot width or section from one end to the other. Place the vinyl at the base boards with the extra ½ inch folded up next to the base board. From the corner of the vinyl you may need to cut a 45 degree line the length of the ½ inch so it will bend to shape. Cut all four of corners from the point tip of the vinyl. Cut only ½ inch.
-
Step 4
Press the cut vinyl on the floor ‘in place’ carefully. There is no room for mistakes as the glue is super adhesive and will not allow you to move the vinyl around very much.
-
Step 5
Have another person hold the vinyl roll up, after you have the first section pressed in place of the glued area, while you continue spreading the glue in another two foot section coming from the wall.
-
Step 6
To smooth out the vinyl, use a flat smooth piece of wood or something similar, pushing down on the vinyl until bubbles are gone.

on 11/2/2009 Great advice (just had to redo a floor and think your advice is spot-on).
