Things You'll Need:
- pool
- swimsuit
- water shoes (optional)
- aqua weights (optional)
-
Step 1
Find a pool. You might have a backyard pool or a summertime community pool. You can also find pools at some local gyms and at the YMCA.
-
Step 2
Try moving in the water. It's a good idea to start slowly so you can get a good idea of what it means to move in the water. When you run or walk in the water you will find that you are using different muscles than when you run and walk on land. The resistance of the water also makes this exercise different than it is on land.
-
Step 3
If you have access to aqua weights, try doing some weight lifting moves in the water. You will notive that your muscles react differently in the water. You will feel different parts of your body working.
-
Step 4
Find a water aerobics class. Water aerobics is fun group exercise that anyone can do because it provides a high quality workout with little or no impact. Many YMCAs and gyms are now offering water aerobics. You can do water aerobics in deep or shallow water.
