Earn A Degree At Home

It is more important now than ever to have a college education. If you consider yourself a non-traditional student, you have the option to earn a degree at home in very little time. By taking online classes from accredited educational institutions you have the ability to start or finish your bachelors, masters and even doctoral degrees. So don’t wait, earn a degree at home and start receiving all the benefits that come with having a college education.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find an accredited online college or university that fits your schedule. Gather information on their particular degree programs that interest you. If you are unsure at what type of degree to pursue, take a career assessment test to get a better idea. It is important to know what type of degree you want before you begin your program. Also, if you would like to begin an online degree program, make sure you have personal or public access to a computer.

  2. Step 2

Speak with an online admissions advisor at the college or university that you are thinking of attending to check and see if past college credits will transfer over. This is important to do because then you may not have to spend the extra time and money completing prerequisite courses. If you do not have previous courses, speak with an advisor anyway to check about the specific courses in your degree program.

  3. Step 3

Register for your classes online. Once you have filled out all the proper admissions paperwork, you will be ready to sign up for your classes. If you are completing a degree program that is online, you will need to familiarize yourself with discussion boards such as “WebCT” and “Blackboard.” These programs are where you will be conducting online discussions and submitting tests and homework.

  4. Step 4

Print off a course syllabus from the class discussion board. Your syllabus will explain all of the specific details of the class. You will always be able to review the syllabus online, but it is a good idea to keep a hard copy on you. If you have any questions regarding the content of the course syllabus, you should speak with your instructor before class begins.

  5. Step 5

Check in with your online academic advisor on a regular basis to make sure that you are completing all your core and elective classes. You also want to make sure that all of your grades are successfully transferring to your university or college transcript. Because you are not dealing with your advisors and instructors on a face-to-face, it is important that your keep in contact with them via email regularly.
