How to Reset a GE Built-In Oven

GE is a manufacturer of appliances for the kitchen, including a line of built-in wall ovens. Built-in wall ovens are hardwired into the electrical system of the home. If you are unable to operate the GE oven, a part of your troubleshooting process may include resetting the appliance. As an example, GE wall ovens have sabbath and delayed start cooking modes that freeze operation of the oven during a set period of time. Once you reset the oven, these modes will be canceled.

  • Select the "Clear" button on the built-in GE oven. If you simply wish to clear the bake mode that you are currently using, you can usually either select "Clear" or "Stop," depending on the specific model you have.

  • Switch off the circuit breaker that is controlling the GE built-in oven. Unlike some oven models from GE, you can not simply unplug the model. To stop power from going to the appliance, use the circuit breaker in your home.

  • Turn the power back on to your GE built-in wall oven. After a minute, use the circuit breaker to restore power. This will reset the model and get rid of any settings that have been previously stored.

  • Set the clock of your GE built-in oven after you have reset the appliance. To change the time, press the "Clock" button. Then adjust the time by holding down the "+" and "-" keys. Once the time is correct, hit the "Clock" button again. To make any other setting adjustments, press the oven's "Menu" button.
