Instructions

Wash your face with cold water throughout the day in order to cool the face. This may work for milder cases of facial sweating. Also carry a handkerchief with you to wipe the sweat away as it accumulates.

    • 2

Apply an antiperspirant that contains aluminum chloride. Simple over the counter antiperspirants may be too harsh for the face, so try Maxim facial wipes. These also come in a sensitive skin formula. Antiperspirants should be applied at night in order to effectively plug the pores.

    • 3

If the problem persists, ask your doctor about prescription anticholinergic medications, such as glycopyrrolate. Glycopyrrolate works by reducing the body's ability to cool off by sweating. Dry mouth, dizziness and problems with urination are among the possible side effects.

Botox injections are a moderately invasive procedure that may aid in the reduction of facial sweating. The FDA has approved Botox for the treatment of underarm sweating, but has yet to approve the injections for facial sweating. Talk to your doctor before using this treatment method for facial sweating.

Where all else has failed, you may consider Endoscopic Thoracic Sympathectomy (ETS), a highly invasive surgical procedure. ETS has been effective in treating extreme cases of facial hyperhidrosis.

Tips & Warnings

  • These treatments range from non-invasive to very invasive, so always begin with the least invasive methods.

  • Consult a doctor before attempting any of these methods. Excessive facial sweating may be a sign of an underlying medical condition.
