How to Solve Disk Boot Failure
Disk boot failure can result from a variety of situations. For example, system instability may occur after a new application or device driver has been installed or updated. Additionally, if an application was originally loaded from a disk and its information becomes outdated, a disk boot failure can result. Tips & Warnings
Keep all drivers and anti-virus software updated, the firewall turned on and remove non trustworthy files and programs if suspected.
The steps work for Windows XP and may vary slightly for Windows Vista. Please refer to the links provided in the Resources section. If system instability was caused by a outdated driver or missing source file, setting your computer to the "Last Known Good Configuration" will not solve the disk boot failure. In this case, update all drivers and replace missing source files by reinstalling the operating system.
