How to Get a State Department Passport in One Week
A U.S. government-issued passport grants American citizens international travel and legal exit and entry into the United States. It also serves as proof of identification and citizenship for the American national entitled to it. Expedited service is available for obtaining a passport quickly through a simple application process, provided your American citizenship is recognized by the country.

Locate the nearest passport agency or passport acceptance facility, which includes designated post offices, clerks of court, public libraries and other government offices.

Complete Form DS-11: Application for a U.S. Passport to submit in person later on, but do not sign it until instructed by the acceptance agent.

Submit evidence of your U.S. citizenship by providing any one of the following: a previously issued U.S. passport, certified birth certificate, Consular Report of Birth Abroad or certification of birth, naturalization certificate or certificate of citizenship.

Present one accepted form of identification by submitting a previous undamaged passport, naturalization certificate, valid driver's license, current government ID or current military ID. You must also include a photocopy of this document.

Provide two identical passport photos in accordance with the Quality Requirements for Passport Book & Passport Card Photographs.

Pay the applicable passport fees and include the expedited service charge of $60, plus overnight delivery costs. The Bureau of Consular Affairs strongly suggests that you select two-way overnight delivery and use traceable delivery methods.
