Things You'll Need:
- 3 x 5-inch note cards
-
Step 1
Learn the Norwegian alphabet. Visit the Norwegian alphabet guide at Norway-Hei.com to learn how to pronounce Norwegian letters. Although the Norwegian alphabet is similar to the English one, some vowels and consonants are pronounced differently. Also, there are three additional vowels in the Norwegian alphabet, æ Æ, ø Ø and å ....
-
Step 2
Choose Norwegian sentences you wish to learn. Visit sites like 101Languages.net and SofN.com to scroll through lists of helpful Norwegian sentences. Make a list of 15 to 20 sentences you would like to learn. These should include information gathering questions like: "What is your name?" and "Do you speak English?"
-
Step 3
Make flashcards. Flashcards are an efficient way to learn foreign languages. First, write down a Norwegian sentence from your list on one side of a card. Second, write the English translation on the other side of the card. Repeat this process until you have created flashcards for all the sentences on your list.
-
Step 4
Practice with your flashcards. Since the flashcards are small, place them in your purse or pocket to read them in your free time. Use your cards every day until you have memorized all of the Norwegian sentences.
-
Step 5
Make more flashcards. Once you have memorized your first batch of cards, you can create more flashcards to learn additional Norwegian sentences. Look over your old flashcards from time to time, as well, to refresh your memory.
