How to Make a DIY Motorcycle Ramp
Motorcycles and dirt bikes are fun pieces of equipment that can provide hours of entertainment. Jumping motorcycles, for example, is a typical pastime of most enthusiasts and can be accomplished almost anywhere, including in your own backyard. Most jumps or ramps are simply found naturally in the landscape; however, there are DIY options for those motorcycle enthusiasts who want to build their own ramps.

Build two wooden triangles out of 2x4 lumber with the base 3 feet tall and sides 5 feet long. Screw the ends of the 3-foot base to the ends of the 5-foot sides and then screw the free ends of the 5-foot sides together. Tie the triangles together by extending a 2x4 crossmember from each of the corners of one triangle to the corresponding corners of the other triangle.

Place the ramp frame in a flat area free of obstructions that could catch your wheel or throw you off balance while jumping. Fill the frame with soil and pack more soil around the frame to completely cover the wood.

Use the shovel to shape the "face" of the ramp or the area where you will launch from so that it is even and free of bumps. The wooden frame will provide stability and prevent erosion of your ramp later on down the road.

Tips & Warnings
Some motorcycle enthusiasts simply forgo the soil and build wooden ramps to jump from; however, you need to be careful to build sturdy ramps with lots of support, or they run the chance of buckling under the pressure of being ridden on.
