A pellet holder is a great, no-mess and way to store your pet food, rice, bird seed and other pellet-type products. It's an easy project that nearly anyone in the family can accomplish. Make a cute or interesting one to keep in your house or a plain, utilitarian one to keep in your storage area.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Plastic tub of any size (tall and skinny usually works better for pellets)
  • Scoop
  • Plastic bag large enough to fit in the tub
  • Paint or fabric
  • Super glue or glue gun
  1. Step 1

Thoroughly clean out the tub, especially if it is going to be used to store food. You can use a dilution of bleach and water to disinfect. Rinse, dry and air out the tub until it is completely dry.

  2. Step 2

Fit the plastic bag into the tub the same way you would if it were a garbage bag. Tie the edges down tight and secure the lid in place. This allows you to refill the holder by changing out the bag, which is much easier than cleaning out the entire pellet holder.

  3. Step 3

Tie the scoop to a string and attach it to the body of the pellet holder with super glue.

  4. Step 4

Decorate the pellet holder in a style that you like. You can simply paint it or you can use more elaborate decorations, such as covering it with fabric. If you choose to use fabric, use a hot glue gun to attach it firmly to the plastic, being careful to not melt the plastic.

  5. Step 5

Give the pellet holder plenty of time to dry before using.

Tips & Warnings
  • Food-safe plastic bags can be found at many natural foods stores.
  • Always wear gloves when using bleach and do not allow children to help. Be very careful when using super glue or a hot glue gun.
