Things You'll Need:
- 2 yards faux-fur fabric
- 2 yards cotton or other soft-lining fabric
- Measuring tape
- Scissors
- Thread
- Sewing machine
- Straight pins
-
Step 1
Wash and dry your lining fabric. If your fur fabric is washable, wash it as well.
-
Step 2
Measure out the fur fabric about 2 inches longer than you want your finished blanket to be. Cut the fabric at that length. Repeat with the lining fabric.
-
Step 3
Fold the edges of the fur fabric under about 1 inch and sew to make a seam. Repeat with the lining fabric.
-
Step 4
Spread out the fur, fuzzy side down, so that it is flat. Lay the lining piece on top of it so that the inside of each piece is against the other. Carefully adjust the edges so that it is even and there are no wrinkles.
-
Step 5
Place straight pins through both pieces all along each edge at intervals of about 5 to 6 inches apart. If there are wrinkles, uneven patches or bunching when you are finished pinning, make adjustments now.
-
Step 6
Begining at one corner, sew one of the short ends if your blanket is rectangular and any side if your blanket is square. Then sew the opposite side. Lay the blanket out flat again and check for uneven areas.
-
Step 7
Sew the other two sides, checking for uneven areas as you go. When you are finished sewing, snip any extra thread. You now have a soft and beautiful fur blanket.
