If your family is originally from Europe, you may have a family crest. A family crest originated as a design to represent your family hundreds of years ago. Although the family crest is no longer needed, it can be extremely interesting to find what your crest looks like and what the symbolism is. Not all families will have a crest, and you may need to look under alternative surnames because it may have changed over the years.

Instructions

1. Navigate to a website such as "www.family-crest.com," "www.allfamilycrests.com" or "www.familycrest.name." These are all websites that will help you find your family crest.

2. Type in your last name into the search bar of the site.

3. Select the appropriate family location that comes up. This means there may be multiple family origins that come up, such as Scotland and Ireland. You will need to click on the location where your family originated.

4. View the family crest.

5. Click "File," "Print" in your Web browser if you would like to keep the image of your family crest. Most of the websites will allow you to order merchandise with your crest on it as well
