How to Use Norton Ghost 14.0 to Clone Vista Drive
Norton Ghost is an application that allows you to create an image of your hard drive. Making an image of the hard drive copies all files and applications exactly how they appear on the computer, so there is no need to reinstall applications or create backups if a hard drive crashes. The application can make a complete copy of a Vista computer hard drive. Once the image is created, save it to a save location on another hard drive or CD-ROM.

1
Open the Norton Ghost application. Norton Ghost automatically suggests what drives to back up. One of those drives is the Vista "C" drive. Select a drive and click the "Next" button. This opens the backup image wizard.
-
2
Select a destination for the image. Hard drive images created by Ghost copy all information on the drive. If your hard drive usage is 10GB, then the location of the image backup needs to have this kind of storage capacity to hold the backup. Most people use an external hard drive or a DVD to store a hard drive image. Once the location is selected, click the "Next" button.

3
Review the summary screen. Before the backup begins, Norton Ghost displays a summary screen of your choices. Look over the summary to ensure you chose the correct options and click the "Finish" button.
-
4
Wait for the backup to be created by the application. This can take several minutes, so you can walk away from the computer while the process completes. Once Norton Ghost is finished creating the Vista copy, navigate to the location of the saved file to ensure it was fully copied. Ensure the file is stored in a safe place in your home so it does not get corrupted.
