How to Clean Urine & Feces

Urine and feces contain bacteria that is harmful to the body. The germs in feces have the ability to travel through the air, so any urine or feces should be cleaned immediately. Follow this guide to learn how to clean urine and feces and disinfect the contaminated area.

Tip

Have a cleaning kit for spills or bodily fluids on hand. Use this method to clean vomit.

Warning

Only use the bleach solution to clean vomit, feces or urine. The solution is mixed at a stronger level than a traditional cleaning solution.

Clean Up of Urine and Feces

  1. Put on rubber gloves.

  2. Using the paper towels or single use cloth, and wipe up the material from the least soiled to most soiled areas. Place the soiled towels in a waterproof bag.

  3. Clean the area using soap or detergent.

  4. Sanitize the area with the bleach solution (recipe below).

  5. Allow the bleach solution to soak the area for 10 minutes, and then rinse.

  6. Discard gloves and other cleaning materials.

  7. Wash your hands thoroughly after removing gloves.

Bleach Solution

  1. Mix two tablespoons of bleach with one cup of water.

  2. Pour the mix into a spray bottle.

  3. Cover the contaminated area with the solution, and allow to sit for 10 minutes.
