How to Edit Picture Effects to Resize & Crop Text

When working with pictures on your PC or Mac computer, you may find it necessary to resize or crop a certain portion of an image. Even if the picture contains a text element, its size and setup can still be adjusted. PC users should use the effects feature of the Microsoft Paint program and Mac users should use the Preview application to resize and crop text.

Instructions

    Microsoft Paint Instructions

  1. Step 1

    Open Microsoft Paint, go to the "File" menu at the top of the window, and choose the "Open" option. Then navigate to the location of the picture you want to edit and double-click on the file.

  2. Step 2

    Use the "Select" tool to outline the area of the picture and text that you want to crop.

  3. Step 3

    Go to the "Edit" menu and select "Copy." Then open a new document in Microsoft Paint and paste the cropped picture.

  4. Step 4

    Resize the cropped picture and text by going to the "Image" menu and selecting "Attributes." Then enter a new width and height for the picture and click "OK" to save the settings.

  6. Step 1

    Launch the Preview application, go to the "File" menu at the top of the screen, and choose "Open." Then navigate to the location of the picture you want to edit and double-click on it.

  7. Step 2

    Click and drag your mouse to select the area of the picture and text that you want to crop.

  8. Step 3

    Open the "Tools" menu and choose the "Crop" option.

  9. Step 4

    Resize the cropped picture and text by going to the "Tools" menu and choosing "Adjust Size." Enter a new width and height. Click "OK."
