How to Block a Yahoo! Messenger Contact

Don't you just hate getting annoying messages from people on Yahoo! Instant Messenger? In just a few seconds, you can put those people on an Ignore list and essentially block them from contacting you so they can never bother you again.

Instructions

1. Launch Yahoo! Messenger and log in, if necessary.

2. If the person who you want to block is already on your contact list, open a chat window and then right-click on his username in the Yahoo! Messenger console and click "Delete contact." A button will appear that is labeled "Ignore contact."

3. Click the "Ignore contact" button to block contact with the individual.

4. You can also manually add the contact's name to the Ignore list. To do so, navigate to "Messenger" in the upper right corner of the console, select "Preferences" in the drop-down menu and then click "Ignore list" in the side panel. Then click the "Add" button. You may manually add either the Yahoo! ID or the email address of the person you want to ignore.

Tips & Warnings

• Certain programs allow people to see if they have been blocked by another user on Yahoo! Messenger and other messenger services. If you're blocking someone, keep in mind that he may be able to figure out that you are.
