Things You'll Need:
- Swimsuit
- Swimming pool or body of water
-
Step 1
Your first step towards learning how to front float is to stand in an upright position in the water.
-
Step 2
Lean forward with both of your arms stretched out like Superman. Your fingers should be straight and hands open.
-
Step 3
Take a deep breath and continue leaning forward until your body is parallel with the bottom of the swimming pool. Your entire face should be in the water. Your hairline may remain out of the water.
-
Step 4
To prevent getting water in your nose or mouth, blow bubbles out of your nose. You may blow bubbles out of your mouth, or simply keep it closed. When you blow bubbles out of your nose, pretend like you are blowing your nose into a tissue. Do not breathe in again until your face is out of the water.
-
Step 5
Remain still in this stretched out position. Both your arms and legs should be straight. If you start to sink, kick your legs a few times to stay at the top or skull your arms in a back and forth motion.
-
Step 6
If you need to take a breath, you can hold the position and just lift your head up out of the water. You can still keep you legs and arms straight and floating.
-
Step 7
When you are finished front floating, bring your feet back to the bottom of the pool and stand up.
