Instructions

    • 1

Keep your hands busy when you feel the temptation to bite your nails or pick at your cuticles. Keep scrap paper and a pen with you, and try doodling to keep your hands occupied.

    • 2

Keep your nails trimmed and newly manicured. This works as a sort of reverse psychology trick. With the neatness and cleanliness of your freshly manicured fingernails, you will not want to ruin what you just had done, resulting in no biting. Indeed, you would not want to mess them up right after spending money to have them done.

    • 3

Wear gloves whenever possible so that your fingernails won't be available to bite.

    • 4

Try buying some anti-biting polish from the pharmacy. This is a sort of clear nail polish. If you happen to bite your nails with the polish on, you will feel a horrible bitterness in your mouth. This will deter your habit and train your brain to stop biting.
