Things You'll Need:
- strip steaks, at least 8 oz per serving
- crusty bread
- red onion
- 3 cloves garlic
- red bell peppers, fresh or jar
- 1/4 stick of butter per two servings
-
Step 1
1) Line the bottom of a skillet with olive oil and heat. While it's heating, slice your onions and peppers into small strips and place in the oil when hot. One onion and pepper makes about 4 servings. Cook down until soft, usually about 25 minutes.
-
Step 2
2) While the onions and peppers are cooking down melt a quarter stick of butter in a saucepan. Finely chop three cloves of garlic and add to the melted butter. Let cook for about two minutes using care not to burn. Once down turn off heat and cover saucepan.
-
Step 3
3) Lightly rub your steaks with olive oil on both sides and grill to desired preference. I prefer a nice pink center which is 145 degrees. While the steaks are grilling cut your crusty bread into 1-inch thick pieces. Grill lightly to toast while meat is resting for 5 minutes.
-
Step 4
4) Assemble your sandwich by placing a piece of grilled bread on the plate first. Slice the steaks and place directly on to the bread. Then add a helping of onions and peppers. Top the sandwich off with two tablespoons of the garlic butter and enjoy.
