Step 1
Understanding the process and knowing your budget. Finding the entertainment for your event is so exciting, but also understand that it can be overwhelming to say the least. There are so many factors influencing your decisions like.... your budget, guest considerations, your precious time going into planning, or your knowledge of available entertainment options. You might be asking...."Do I need a DJ, DJ with an MC, a Band, a DJ with Live Performers." While considering your options, keep this in mind; A survey was sent out to thousands of brides about their wedding experience, and 80% said they would have spent more money on upgrading their entertainment. Don't have any regrets.

Step 2
Watch Out For Cheap DJ's/Music Companies. Whether your planning a small or big party, there is no doubt that the entertainment will "BE" the party. Looking for cheap entertainment may lead you to hundreds of start-up Music Companies who charge very little for their service but leave their clients very disappointed. If you want the cheapest service you may be compromising quality.
-
Step 3
Understand other custom options that may accompany a DJ Company. These are things you may have not even considered but may be interested in for your event. Party Props and Give-Aways, (sunglasses, hats, blowup instruments, glow props, etc.), Keyboardist (for cocktail hour or a dinner set), Saxophone player (for cocktail hour, with a keyboardist and/or to play with your live singer),Singer (Male and/or Female),
Different Lighting Packages, Dance Motivators, Percussionist
40-50" plasma TVs, Dancing stages, etc. DJ's /music companies that offer these products and services are generally the ones with the experience and quality. -
Step 4
Where to look. The first thing to do is ask your friends and family if they know any good DJ's. It's likely that they LOVED their DJ or have heard of a GREAT DJ. This is by far, the best way to know you are getting a good service. They may not have contact info but you can look their information up on the internet. Which leads us to the next step.
-
Step 5
If Step 4 doesn't work, Look on the internet. Google-search local DJ's and set appointments with the ones that look promising. If pricing is an issue let them know what your budget is to see if they can work with you to meet your entertainment needs. Be confident when meeting with DJ's and don't be afraid to ask lots of questions. Keep in mind that the DJ will "MAKE" or "BREAK" your wedding.
