How to Fully Ignore Annoying People

I have my share of annoying people in my life, whether I want to or not. This article is inspired by annoying people -- people who seem to have nothing better to do than get into your business for no reason at all, to see if they can make you respond to them in some way. By nature I do respond, but I do so in a productive way. So here's how to ignore annoying people and still keep your self respect.

Annoying people who have nothing to say and no one to say it to will drop in, unannounced and uninvited, to speak their mind on your business. The first step to ignoring annoying people is to remember that what they are speaking on is just that, YOUR business. And no matter if you're busy, or you're on break and you have time to respond, as long as the bristling anger you feel only goes so deep, you'll be fine. Don't be afraid to get in a frivolous argument to amuse yourself, as long as you have the time. But get back to work as soon as you need to.

Once you realize that you can talk back to annoying people in a kind of third person Buddhist kind of way, you will realize that you can actually ignore someone while talking to them!! Use this power well, especially with people, say at work, or on eHow comments, that you can't avoid talking to. (By the way, eHow, is there ever going to be a way to erase annoying comments off of your pages?) You can respond and argue, but don't take yourself or the annoying person in front of you seriously at all.

Once you learn this method of argument, ignoring annoying people while actually talking to them, the annoying person might actually get the idea that they ARE affecting you. This is the time to ignore them like you normally would, showing no response at all. I mean NONE. Don't look at them, respond to them; push past them like they're not there if you have to get to the copy machine. The annoying person or people will then realize that they are a tool for your amusement, and can be talked to or not talked to at your whim. If this realization doesn't get them to leave you alone, call the police, because you have a stalker. GL!!
