How to Donate Milk Caps

There are numerous ways you can help raise money for various organizations, and one common way is to collect and donate milk caps. Certain companies will offer promotions that ask you to send in milk caps. In exchange, the company will send money to schools, organizations or literacy programs of your choosing. Once you learn how to donate milk caps, you'll be able to help raise money for organizations you hold important just for buying milk.

Instructions

1. Purchase milk from a company participating in the promotion. You'll need to purchase a specific brand of milk for the milk caps to qualify for the promotion. Companies like Land O Lakes, Kemps and Model Dairy have a history of milk cap promotions.

2. Set the caps aside after you finish that container of milk.

3. Wash the milk off the caps by holding them under cold, running water, and then store them in a plastic bag.

4. Mail the milk caps to the appropriate location. Some promotions might require you to mail the milk caps to your favorite school or organization. The school would then work with the milk company to receive money for those milk caps. Other promotions might require you to mail the milk caps into the corporate headquarters and they'll make a donation for each milk cap received.

5. Determine the money that you helped raise for your cause. In 2009, Land O Lakes and Kemps paid five cents for each donated milk cap, while Model Dairy paid two cents per milk cap.
