How to Change Your Voice Online
There are many several reasons you may desire to change your voice online, such as playing online games, chatting, and instant messaging. In order to do this, you will need to install VAD (virtual audio drivers) onto your computer. Once you have the proper drivers installed, you are only moments away from revealing your new voice to others.

Ensure that your computer has an audio input microphone. If you don't have one installed on your computer, you can purchase an external microphone from a local computer retailer.

Purchase, download, and install VAD voice changing software onto your computer. Examples of the voice changing software that are available for purchase include VoiceMask Pro, MorphVOX Pro, and Audio4Fun (this article is not endorsing any of these products specifically). While MorphVOX Junior is free, some of the software programs will cost you around $20 and up, depending on the manufacturer.

Open the voice changing software and customize your settings by choosing the voice effect you desire. The method will vary depending upon the program you downloaded. If you are uncertain of how to customize your voice effect, look in the "Help" section of the program, which is typically located on the menu bar.

Log into your chat or gaming program that you would like to change your voice in.

Select the option to edit "Audio" settings. Inside of the audio settings, you will need to select the "VAD" software that is listed as your desired microphone. Depending on the chat or gaming program you are using, the location for the audio settings will vary. See the link in the "Resources" section to see step by step instructions for changing audio settings for some of the popular programs and games, such as Google Talk, and AOL Instant Messenger, XFire, and EverQuest II.
