Instructions

    • 1

Measure the width of the window, and decide how you want to cover it with the scarf or scarves. Purchase one or more scarves to use to hang as curtains, making sure that the scarves are wide enough to cover the window and long enough to achieve the look you desire.

Install the curtain rod above the window using the hardware included with the rod. Use the level to make sure the curtain rod is level, and screw the screws into the wall using the drill or the screwdriver. For best results, use drywall screws.

Hang one scarf over the curtain rod by folding the curtain along one short end. Fold the short end over approximately 6 inches to create a valance look with the scarf. Space the curtain clips every 3 inches along the folded end of the scarf, and attach the clips to the folded scarf. Slide the curtain clips onto the curtain rod to hang the scarf as a curtain.

More than one small scarf hung as a curtain or valance.

Hang more than one scarf over the window by attaching curtain clips to the top corners of the scarves, using as many scarves as desired to achieve the look you desire. If you want the scarves to hang flat without extra fabric creating pleats, only use enough scarves to cover the window perfectly. If you want the scarves to hang with excess fabric creating pleats, use at least one extra scarf. This will add extra fabric that will hang in pleats when you hang them on the curtain rod. Slide the clips onto the curtain rod to hang the scarves as a curtain or valance.

Tips & Warnings

  • The length of the scarf or scarves will determine the finished effect. By using short scarves, you will achieve a valance look, and by using longer scarves, you will have full curtains with scarves over your windows.
