How to Remove Crayon Stain

Crayons are an excellent way for children to express themselves artistically. Unfortunately, kids may sometimes get a bit overzealous with their artistic achievements and get crayon on various articles of clothing. These stains can be difficult to remove, but with proper care should come out.

Things You'll Need

  • Paper towels
  • WD-40 spray
  • Liquid dish soap
  • Laundry detergent
  • Bleach for colored clothing

      Place several layers of paper towels over the surface you will be working on. Put the stained surface on the paper towels.

      Spray WD-40 on the stained areas and let it sit for five minutes. Turn the stained surface over and spray WD-40 on the other side.

      Work liquid dish soap into the stained area. The stain should start to work out onto the paper towels. Replace them with clean paper towels as needed.

      Wash the article with detergent and color-safe bleach in the washing machine in hot water for at least 12 minutes.

Tips & Warnings

  • If your washing machine doesn't have a setting allowing you to choose the minutes, use the heavy soiled setting.
