Now that we got the warnings out of the way this is a simple process. You are going to run a utility called "System File Checker" That will replace bad copy's of critical windows files with the correct fresh of the CD copy you should have if anything is off, it will replace. Locate and insert windows install cd. Close any auto-run dialog box that may or may not appear.

Click 'Start' then run for Windows XP, Then type this in the box. For Windows Vista or Windows 7 type in the search box in the Start bar. Type this: "sfc /scannow"
