Step 1
**Check Your Calendar**
Look at your calendar to find the first day of your last period. Mark the date with a pen.
If you are not having your period on a regular basis it may be difficult for you to become pregnant. You need to find out why you are not having your menstrual cycle. If it is because you are too thin, you need to eat a healthy diet and bring yourself up to a healthy weight. If it is because you exercise too much, you need to reduce the amount that you workout or do sports. Once you are having a regular period it will be easier for you to conceive.

Step 2
**Calculate**
Put your finger on the first day of your last period and count fourteen days forward. Mark the fourteenth day. The next three days are your most fertile. This is the time when you are ovulating each month.
You can use this same calculation each month until you become pregnant. Be sure to mark your period down each month so that you know what day to start your count.
You should take a folic acid supplement or a prenatal vitamin that contains folic acid during the time that you are trying to conceive. Everyone of child bearing age should be taking folic acid. Folic acid is necessary in the development of the baby even before you are aware that you are pregnant. Lack of folic acid can result in birth defects.
