Halloween is just around the corner and I had a good friend ask me about the flying little goblins I always have "flying" around my house this time of year. Anyone with a ceiling fan can make these adorable little spooks in a short amount of time! These decorations have been a hit in our house and throughout the homes of our family and friends.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Styrofoam balls or you may substitute ping-pong balls or any other round object
  • Cheesecloth or t-shirt material
  • Fishing line or clear thread
  • Permanent marker
  1. Step 1

Cut cheesecloth or shirt material into a 6" x 6" square.

  2. Step 2

Place ball or round object onto center of fabric square and grasp tightly around ball. Secure ball with line or thread by tying just underneath round object or the "neck".

  3. Step 3

Using a permanent marker, draw eyes onto the little ghouls.

  4. Step 4

After ghosts are made cut a piece of line or thread approximately 12-16" and secure to line already tied around the "neck".

  5. Step 5

Tie 1 ghost per ceiling fan blade toward the center of the fan while making sure the knot is secure and unable to move freely.

  6. Step 6

Turn ceiling fan onto LOW and watch the little ones fly!

Tips & Warnings
  • Use various lengths of line/thread to add some visual interest both when flying and stationary.
  • Leave fan on LOW - turning the fan any higher will increase the risk of the strings getting tangled and potential harming the motor of your fixture
