How to Kill Dinosaurs in Jurassic Park

Jurassic Park for NES

As a follow-up to the critically acclaimed movie, the Jurassic Park video game (released by Ocean for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1993) allowed players to work their way through the plot line themselves in hopes of making it out alive. There are several ways to work around the dinosaurs and annihilate the vicious ones along the way. Stock up on ammunition and prepare yourself for battle.

Instructions

  1. Using the Shotgun

    • 1

Walk up to the shotgun ammunition you find in the wild to add it to your inventory. It is red, and shaped like a bullet.

    • 2

Select the shotgun in your ammunition inventory to prepare it for use.

    • 3

Press the A or B button (depending on which settings you have selected) to launch a bullet when you are directly in front of a dinosaur.

    • 4

Shoot three or four times until the dinosaur collapses in front of you. Stock up on shotgun ammunition if you plan to use it as your main weapon. It takes a handful of bullets to kill a single dinosaur.

    Using a Rocket Launcher

    • 5

Walk up to the rocket launcher ammunition you find in the wild to add it to your inventory. It is striped yellow and black.

    • 6

Select the rocket launcher in your ammunition inventory to prepare it for use.

    • 7

Press the A or B button to launch a rocket when you are within shooting range of a dinosaur. Rocket launchers can travel 10 to 15 feet in front of you. Press the launching button once. The rocket will immediately destroy any dinosaur it comes in contact with.

    Using the Bola Snare Rifle

    • 8

Walk up to the bola snare ammunition you find in the wild to add it to your inventory. It looks like three gray balls in a pyramid formation.

    • 9

Select the bola snare rifle in your ammunition inventory to prepare it for use.

    • 10

Press the X or Y button (depending on which settings you have selected) or the B button on Game Boy to launch a bola snare when you are within shooting range of a dinosaur. Like rocket launchers, bola snares can travel 10 to 15 feet in front of you. Press the shooting button once. The ammunition will immediately destroy any dinosaur it comes in contact with. Use the bola snare rifle for nesting raptors that pace back and forth. They kill anything within proximity to the target.

Tips & Warnings

  • The Taser gun and gas bombs only knock dinosaurs out, they do not kill them.
