How to Switch DISH Network DVRs to Different Rooms

DISH Network, like DirecTV, gives television users another option instead of just the cable provider. One service a user of DISH Network can receive is DVR, which allows the individual to record entire shows onto the hard drive of the DVR. DISH Network users typically only purchase one receiver, but it is possible to move the DVR into different rooms.

  • Switch off the power for the DVR receiver and the television. Disconnect the DVR from the satellite connection. Do this by removing the coaxial cable from the "input" connector. Likewise, remove the connection from the television and DVR by removing the coaxial cable, which connects into the "output" connector on the back of the device.

  • Unplug the DVR receiver and take it to another room that has a DISH network receiver. You will only be allowed to use the DVR in a room where there is already a connection from the satellite dish.

  • Disconnect the standard receiver box in the new room (follow the exact same process as in Step one). Place the DVR receiver along side the television.

  • Connect the coaxial cable from the satellite dish into the "input" connector on the back side of the DVR receiver. Take the coaxial from the television and plug it into the "output" connector of the DVR receiver. Power on the device, and it will be set for use.
