Put Together a First Aid Kit

A first aid kit is an important way to prepare for injuries and emergencies. A well-stocked first aid kit will provide the materials necessary to treat injuries when they occur. Keep a first aid kit in each automobile, and bring a kit along when engaging in activities that could result in injuries. Be sure to include any specific items that may be necessary, such as a bee sting kit.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • First aid equipment and supplies
  • Plastic box with lid
  1. Step 1

Select a strong and secure container for the first aid kit. A sturdy plastic container with a clasp lid would be suitable.

  2. Step 2

Gather materials for treating wounds. Include bandages, bandage tape, gauze rolls, gauze pads, antiseptic for cleaning wounds and antibiotic ointment.

  3. Step 3

Place medicines in the kit. Include pain relievers, antihistamines, a bee sting kit, and any other specific medicine that people may require.

  4. Step 4

Include a small flashlight, plastic gloves, a warm blanket, tweezers, an elastic bandage (such as an Ace bandage), a scissors, an instant ice pack, a thermometer and a first aid book if space permits.

  5. Step 5

Check the contents of the first aid kit regularly to make sure the contents do not expire and do not run out. Replenish as necessary.
