How to Plan a Wedding Menu that Complements the Season
When it comes to planning your wedding menu, you have many choices. Give guests a custom menu based on the season. Focusing on a seasonal menu gives you access to ingredients that are often unavailable during other seasons, including locally sourced vegetables or fruits. Plan your menu around the season using a few signature items for guests to enjoy.

1
Create a signature menu that matches your season. Identify four or five key items that are easily identifiable as seasonal foods. For example, serve strawberry and walnut salad during a springtime wedding. Ask your caterer for a list of fruits that are in season during your wedding.

2
Serve meals in unexpected ways. For a fall wedding, use miniature pumpkins for soup bowls. Plate meals with a garnish that is a perfect match to your season. Use melted chocolate to rim a dessert bowl and sprinkle with crumbled graham crackers for ice cream or cake.

Pair drinks with your meal. Arrange with the bar staff ahead of time to blend a signature cocktail for your hors d' oeuvres reception menu. Serve a hot tottie during the cooler seasons. Offer refreshing sangria for a summertime sip.

Add a personal item on the menu. Let your caterer know that you'd like to see one of your family favorites duplicated and on the menu. Provide the caterer with a recipe or two. Place recipe cards on the table with details on the reason for the menu; encourage guests to pass on the tradition.
